Phiringia police in Kandhamal district seized 165 kilograms of ganja from a car and arrested two individuals during a raid on June 9.
Three other accused managed to escape, leaving the vehicle behind.
Acting on a tip-off about ganja being transported from Phulbani to Berhampur, Inspector-in-Charge Muralidhar Sahu led a team including Sub-Inspectors Dipak Kumar Raut and Ajay Kumar Sahu. The team intercepted the vehicle near Balikidadi village on the Phulbani-Baliguda main road.
Police recovered the contraband from the car and weighed it in the presence of a magistrate. Authorities confirmed that the seized ganja weighed 165 kilograms. The team arrested Shibashankar Mallik of Bishipada village under Phulbani Sadar police limits.
Officials said three other accused fled during the raid. Police have launched a search to trace them. The seized ganja was documented in the presence of Tahasildar Jyotiprakash Sethi.
