A shocking incident unfolded in Patnagarh, Bolangir district, where a husband was brutally assaulted inside a hospital after filming alleged medical negligence while seeking treatment for his wife.
On June 9, Radha Suna of Siletpada suffered a snakebite. Her husband, Bhim Suna, rushed her to Patnagarh hospital for treatment. Despite admission, no doctor attended to her for a considerable time. Frustrated, Bhim recorded a video of the hospital’s condition on his mobile phone.
According to the complaint, the attending doctor asked him to delete the video. When Bhim refused, an argument broke out, leading to hospital security guards assaulting him. Bhim later lodged a written complaint at Patnagarh police station. Police registered a case, provided medical care to Bhim, and initiated an investigation.
Patnagarh Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Saroj Swain stated that the patient was referred to Balangir for advanced treatment. He alleged that Bhima created a disturbance even after the referral. Police confirmed that the investigation will establish the facts.
