The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced a major step to conserve fuel and reduce government expenditure on petrol and diesel.
In line with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s directive, the authority has decided to cut fuel consumption by its official vehicles.
According to the new order, the monthly vehicle usage limit for entitled officers has been reduced from 2,000 kilometres to 1,500 kilometres. The move is expected to lower BDA’s monthly fuel expenditure by nearly 25 per cent.
The order stated that the revised limit will take immediate effect and remain in force until the prevailing fuel shortage situation improves or further instructions are issued.
BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana said the authority is encouraging virtual meetings, review sessions, training programmes, and workshops to reduce fuel usage. Officials have also been advised to use public transport whenever possible.
This initiative follows the Chief Minister’s eight-point directive issued in May, aimed at reducing petrol and diesel consumption and promoting energy-efficient governance across Odisha.
