JSW Steel’s Odisha mining division has achieved a major milestone by winning 23 awards at the 43rd Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Fortnight Observance held in Bhubaneswar. The event was organized by the Eastern Zone Mining Association under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS).
The recognitions highlight the division’s strong emphasis on safety, innovation, employee welfare, and operational excellence in its mining operations.
The awards were received by Mr. Prasanna Panda, Business Head of JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division, Mr. Ram Shankar Sharma, Operations and Projects Head, along with their respective teams.
Ganua Mines topped the honours by securing Overall First performance in Group B4, claiming seven awards for excellence in Innovation & Digitalization, General Working, Mock Drill, and Welfare.
Nugaon Mines earned Overall Second position in Group A2, while Narayanposhi Mines achieved Overall Third in Group B1, with strong showings in Mock Drill, Electrical, Mechanical, and General Working categories.
In the General Division, JSW Jajang’s Occupational Health Centre (OHC) clinched Overall First position, and GVTC secured Second position. JSW Steel’s stall also impressed, winning Overall Third position for its innovative exhibits, including the Sleipner system and laser facility in Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM), alongside the integration of women operators in mining.
This marks a historic first for JSW Odisha Mines, as all three mines—Ganua, Nugaon, and Narayanposhi—together with the OHC, secured top-three positions on the safety platform.
The Metalliferous Mines Safety Fortnight is a nationwide campaign promoting safe mining practices, accident prevention, and greater awareness among workers and management.
This outstanding performance reflects JSW Steel’s unwavering commitment to a zero-harm culture and sustainable mining excellence.
