J&K: Gunfire was reported near the Sang Police Picket in Basantgarh Tehsil, Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening, as per officials.
SSP Udhampur, Joginder Singh, stated that an individual, suspected to be a militant, opened fire at the police picket in Sang, within the Basantgarh area of the Udhampur District. The suspect managed to escape the scene, utilizing the cover of darkness and the dense forest.

Meanwhile, security forces have ramped up search operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday, following an encounter with terrorists on Tuesday evening. The clash occurred in the Sezan forest area of Doda district, as the Army, police, and CRPF conducted a search operation for militants linked to an attack on an Army convoy on Monday.
This marks the third consecutive violent clash between security forces and militants in just three days.
