Jiri Lehecka stormed into the Miami Open final with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win over Arthur Fils at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday.
The 21st seed from the Czech Republic broke Fils in the opening game and never looked back, sealing the match with an ace.
Lehecka fired six aces, committed no double faults, and didn’t face a single break point. His aggressive baseline play and flawless serving kept Fils on the defensive throughout the semifinal.
This marks Lehecka’s first appearance in an ATP Masters 1000 final. He follows in the footsteps of fellow Czech Jakub Mensik, who won the tournament last year. Lehecka expressed confidence after the match, saying, “Today was a great match. Definitely brought me a lot of confidence going into the final.”
He will face either second seed Jannik Sinner or fourth seed Alexander Zverev in the final. Lehecka said he looks forward to the matchup and plans to watch their semifinal closely.
Arthur Fils, the 21-year-old Frenchman, admitted disappointment after the loss. “It was tough for me to find a rhythm,” he said. Fils had previously saved four match points in his quarterfinal win over Tommy Paul.
