Odisha Vigilance today arrested Surendra Behera, Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Division, Angul, for possession of disproportionate assets (DA).
He is set to be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
The arrest follows extensive searches conducted at multiple properties linked to Behera, revealing assets grossly disproportionate to his known sources of income. These include two multi-storeyed buildings, two flats in Bhubaneswar, four high-value plots, Rs 2.33 lakh in cash, and bank deposits estimated at Rs 54 lakh.
Unable to provide satisfactory explanations for the amassed wealth, Behera now faces legal proceedings under Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No. 9/2025.
Odisha Vigilance officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and further revelations may follow.
