Lephripoda police have busted an inter-district criminal gang involved in motorcycle thefts and burglaries across Sundaragada and Sambalpur districts.
Acting under the directives of Sundaragada SP, a special team led by SDPO Nirmal Kumar Mahapatra and Lephripoda IIC Inspector Susmita Debata successfully arrested five accused, including one CICL (Child in Conflict with Law).
During the operation, police recovered six stolen motorcycles along with a large cache of stolen property. The seized items include 10 LPG cylinders, two small gas cylinders with stoves, 500 kg of rice, 82 steel/brass utensils, an inverter battery, computer equipment, fans, pressure cookers, sports gear, and other household goods.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rajendra Rohidas (47), Hemant Munda (22), Anil Rohidas (18), Raju Vishwakarma (49), Parikshit Mandal (40), along with one CICL.
Police said the gang was targeting schools, Anganwadi centres, and public institutions, stealing motorcycles and essential supplies. The breakthrough has brought relief to residents, with authorities assuring strict action against organised crime networks in the region.
