A profound sense of shock and grief has gripped the Bhimakhol Chowk area under the Khadial block in Nuapada district following the mysterious deaths of a local couple inside their residence.
The deceased have been identified as Sankirtan Gahir and his wife Subhadra Gahir, residents of Khanatarai village, who had been living in the Bhimakhol Chowk area for a long time.
According to preliminary reports, the lifeless body of Subhadra was found hanging with a rope tied around her neck, while the body of her husband, Sankirtan, was recovered from a cot in the same room. The exact circumstances leading to the tragedy remain unclear. While initial local suspicions point toward a potential suicide pact or foul play, the definitive cause of death is yet to be officially established.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Khadial Police swiftly rushed to the spot, seized both bodies, and launched a comprehensive investigation. The mortal remains have been sent for post-mortem examinations. Authorities state that the true cause of the tragedy will only be confirmed once the autopsy reports are finalised and the ongoing police probe concludes.
