Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a yoga programme organised by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan in Tashkent on Sunday, sharing glimpses of his warm welcome in the Uzbek capital.
In a post on X, PM Modi reflected on the vibrant reception, which included a wreath-laying at the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument and a cultural celebration by the Indian diaspora. Landmark buildings across Tashkent, including the Hilton Hotel, were illuminated in tricolour hues to mark his arrival.

The Prime Minister lauded the artistry of performances blending Indian and Uzbek traditions, such as Kathak fused with the energetic Andijan Polka, and a Bollywood Battle Group rendition of “Ude Jab Jab Zulfein Teri.”

Modi’s two-day state visit to Uzbekistan (Aug 29–30) marks his fourth trip to the Central Asian nation, underscoring India’s growing partnership with Tashkent. Later today, he will hold delegation-level talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to review cooperation in trade, defence, energy, education, and digital connectivity.
From Tashkent, PM Modi will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, at the invitation of President Sadyr Zhaparov, to participate in the 26th SCO Summit, commemorating 25 years of the organisation.
