India’s star badminton player, HS Prannoy, was knocked out in the first round of the All England Championships.
Facing off against France’s Toma Junior Popov, Prannoy put up a valiant fight but ultimately lost in straight games, 19-21, 16-21.
Prannoy, who has recently been in excellent form with a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships and the Asian Games, was expected to progress further in the tournament. However, Popov’s agility and precision proved to be a tough challenge for the Indian shuttler.
Despite this early exit, Indian badminton fans can take solace in the performance of Lakshya Sen, who advanced to the second round after a hard-fought victory over Chinese Taipei’s SU Li Yang. As the tournament progresses, hopes are high for the remaining Indian contenders.
The All England Championships continue to be a key event in the badminton calendar, drawing top players from around the world to compete for one of the most coveted titles in the sport.
