The investigation into the robbery of more than 600 artefacts from the Bristol Museum in the United Kingdom has intensified, with Avon and Somerset Police releasing CCTV images of four suspects involved in the break-in. The heist occurred in the early hours of September 25, when the accused reportedly entered a building on Cumberland Road that housed the British Empire and Commonwealth collection.

Authorities confirmed that several Indian artefacts were among the stolen items with “significant cultural value.” The burglary, which took place around 2 am, involved four men forcefully gaining entry into the premises before escaping with rare and historically important objects.

Police Release CCTV Images, Seek Public Assistance

The police have shared multiple images from security cameras showing the suspects outside the building shortly before the theft. Officers are urging the public to help identify the individuals.

“These items, many of which were donations, are part of a collection that offers insight into a multi-layered part of British history. We hope that members of the public will come forward with information that can help us bring those responsible to justice,” said Detective Constable Dan Burgan, part of the investigating team.

What Was Stolen?

According to reports, the stolen items include:

  • Jewellery

  • Military medals, badges, and pins

  • Geological specimens

  • Carved ivory pieces

  • Silverware

  • Bronze figurines

  • An ivory Buddha

  • A waist belt buckle belonging to an East India Company officer

Authorities stated that these objects hold immense cultural, historical, and monetary value.

Descriptions of the Suspects

Police provided detailed descriptions of the four men captured on CCTV:

  • A man wearing a white cap, black jacket, light trousers, and black trainers

  • A man in a grey hooded jacket, black trousers, and black trainers

  • A man wearing a green cap, black jacket, light shorts, and white trainers

  • A large-built man in a two-toned orange and navy/black puffer jacket, black trousers, and black-and-white trainers

The police have appealed for any information that could support the ongoing investigation and help locate the suspects.
