Sri Lanka Cricket announced India’s two-match Test series schedule, confirming the team’s return to Sri Lanka for the first time since Virat Kohli’s 3-0 sweep in 2017.
The series will be played in August as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
The opening Test will take place at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19. The second Test will follow at the Singhalese Sports Club in Colombo from August 23 to 27. Both matches carry crucial points for the ongoing WTC campaign, with India and Sri Lanka aiming to strengthen their standings early in the cycle.
India’s last Test tour of Sri Lanka in 2017 saw Kohli’s side dominate with a clean sweep, setting a historic benchmark. The 2025 series now offers a fresh chapter, with both teams eager to showcase their form and secure momentum in the championship.
The announcement has generated excitement among fans, as the fixtures revive one of Asia’s most competitive cricket rivalries. Galle’s spin-friendly conditions and Colombo’s traditional batting track promise contrasting challenges, ensuring a gripping contest.
The series also highlights India’s broader WTC journey, with every match carrying weight in the race to the final. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will look to capitalise on home advantage and rebuild after recent transitions.
