Ahmedabad Police announced elaborate security arrangements for the India vs New Zealand ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
Over 3,000 police personnel, 1,000 home guards, and three anti-drone systems will secure the venue.
Police Commissioner GS Malik confirmed the measures during a press briefing. He said senior officers, including a joint commissioner and 12 deputy commissioners, will oversee the deployment. Eight Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad teams will also remain on duty.
Authorities introduced holding areas near stadium gates to prevent overcrowding and possible stampedes. Malik explained that this precautionary step is being implemented for the first time during a match.
The commissioner urged spectators to use public transport such as buses and the Metro to avoid congestion. Transport services will operate late into the night to ensure smooth movement after the match.
Police have arranged separate frisking procedures for men and women, with female officers handling checks for women spectators. Malik warned against illegal parking outside designated areas and assured strict action against black marketing of tickets.
Inside the stadium, special systems will prevent spectators from entering the playing area. A deputy commissioner will supervise this arrangement to ensure no disruptions occur during the match.
