Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has opened up about his deep-rooted and enduring relationship with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, describing him as an elder-brother figure who has consistently backed him both personally and professionally.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview with the BBC Asian Network, Abhishek looked back at their bond, which stretches back well before he entered the Hindi film industry.
Nostalgic Sunday Cricket and Lifelong Guidance
Reminiscing about his younger days, Abhishek recalled spending lazy Sundays at Uday Chopra’s house playing cricket alongside a tight-knit circle that included Hrithik Roshan, Sikander Kher, and Uday Chopra. Shah Rukh Khan would occasionally join the group of aspiring actors, serving as a mentor and guiding presence.
Abhishek also shared a timeless piece of advice he received from SRK during their early chats. When the young Abhishek asked the superstar which of his films was his absolute favourite, Shah Rukh responded that his favourite project was always the one he was currently working on.
Explaining the philosophy, SRK noted that if an actor doesn’t love the project they are currently making, there is little reason to do it.
Reflecting on how that advice continues to shape his career choices, Abhishek noted:
Having previously shared screen space in hits like Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Happy New Year, the duo is now gearing up to reunite on screen in Siddharth Anand’s highly anticipated action-thriller King, slated for a worldwide theatrical release on Dec 24, 2026.
