Authorities in Ahmedabad have issued a major traffic advisory ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Final, scheduled to take place at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium on March 8, 2026.
The advisory was released by the Ahmedabad City Traffic Police to manage the large influx of spectators expected for the tournament’s final match. Several key routes around the stadium will remain closed or diverted throughout the event to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
Authorities have urged residents, commuters, and visitors to plan their journeys in advance and use designated diversion routes to avoid congestion.
Roads Closed Near Narendra Modi Stadium
Traffic restrictions will be implemented on major stretches close to the stadium.
The road between Janpath T-junction and Motera Stadium Main Gate via Krupa Residency T-junction up to Motera Gam T-junction will remain closed for vehicle movement in both directions during the match.
Officials stated that these closures are necessary to manage crowd movement and maintain security around the stadium area.
Motorists are advised to avoid the restricted stretch and follow alternate routes recommended by traffic officials.
Alternative Routes and Traffic Diversions
To minimize disruption, the traffic police have provided diversion routes for vehicles traveling near the stadium.
-
Vehicles moving from Tapovan Circle towards ONGC Crossroads via Janpath T-junction should use nearby internal roads before reaching the restriction point.
-
Commuters traveling through Krupa Residency T-junction are advised to take the left connector road and continue along designated diversion routes.
Traffic personnel will be stationed at key points to guide drivers and ensure smooth traffic movement.
Curfew-Like Restrictions Imposed

These restrictions will be in effect:

March 8, 2026: 10:00 AM to midnight
-
March 9, 2026: 12:00 AM to 2:00 AM
The measures are intended to maintain public safety and prevent overcrowding near the stadium.

Offences will be registered under:
-
Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023
-
Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act
Traffic police officers have been authorized to take action against individuals who fail to comply with the orders.
