The celebrated Odia historical play Ahe Nilashaila will be staged at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar, for four consecutive evenings from September 18 to 21.
Presented by Choklate Productions, each show will begin at 6 pm. Directed by noted theatre personality Lala Biren Ray, the play narrates the powerful saga of Gajapati King Ramachandra Deva II, who fought to protect Lord Jagannath’s honour against the malicious designs of Naib Nazim Taqi Khan.
The storyline draws inspiration from Sahitya Akademi Award‑winning writer Surendra Mohanty’s novel Nila Saila, with the script jointly penned by playwrights Shankar Prasad Tripathi and Dr Pratima Hota.
Having already received an overwhelming response across Odisha, the Bhubaneswar staging is expected to draw large audiences, blending devotion, sacrifice, and historical drama.
