New Delhi: Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on Friday, leaving several areas waterlogged. Traffic jams were witnessed at several places, while water entered many homes in parts of Delhi.
One person died, while many were injured after a portion of the roof of the Delhi airport’s Terminal-1 collapsed. Besides the roof sheet, the support beams also collapsed, damaging the cars parked in the pick-up and drop area of the terminal.
A search operation was underway to ensure no one else was trapped in the damaged vehicles. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi, for the next six days, would witness generally cloudy skies and would receive varying intensities of rain accompanied by gusty winds.
Waterlogging has been reported in many areas including Safdarjung, Sarita Vihar, ITO, Moolchand, Azad Market, Raisina road, Udyog Vihar, Sheetla Mata road, among others. Commuters, especially those on two-wheelers, continue to struggle with waterlogged roads.
