A shocking incident unfolded in Kabisuryanagar town of Ganjam when a woman threw acid on a drug-addicted youth, leaving him critically injured.
The victim, Budu Das of Dwarsahi, frequently abused and tormented the woman while intoxicated. On Saturday evening, Budu hurled abuses at her outside her house. The woman, unable to tolerate the harassment, fetched acid from her home and threw it on his face. The attack severely damaged his left eye.
Budu’s family rushed him to Kabisuryanagar Hospital. Doctors provided initial treatment before referring him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for specialised care due to the seriousness of his injuries.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint at the Kabisuryanagar police station. Police began investigating the case and interrogated the accused woman. Authorities confirmed that she remains under questioning as they continue their probe.
