Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested the Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) of Sunarisikuan G.P in Khariar Block of Nuapada district and his aide while taking Rs 10,000 bribe to Generate Muster Roll Under MGNREG Scheme.
According to Vigilance, Sunarisikuan GRS Pranabahdhu Dandasena, along with Kamalakanta Pradhan were apprehended while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from a complainant through Pradhan to generate muster roll in favour of the beneficiaries under MGNREG scheme and for facilitating the release of pending balance payment in connection with a land development work.
Based on a complaint, a trap was laid on 08.09.2023, wherein the accused GRS Pranabahdhu Dandasena, and his aide Kamalakanta Pradhan were caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance inside the Panchayat office premises at Sunarisikuan while demanding and accepting bribe amount from the complainant.
As per the direction of GRS Dandasena, Pradhan received the bribe amount from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Pradhan and seized in the presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Pradhan gave positive chemical reactions, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him, the Vigilance said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of GRS Dandasena at Khariar Nehena and his office room. Both the accused persons GRS Pranabahdhu Dandasena, and Kamalakanta Pradhan have been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.27 dated 07.09.2023 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation, the Vigilance added.
