The Government of Odisha has suspended Binjesh Ranjan Nayak, ORS officer and Assistant Collector at the Ganjam Collectorate, over alleged misconduct during his previous posting as Sub-Registrar in Jatani, Khordha district.
According to official sources, a departmental proceeding has been initiated against Nayak following serious accusations of illegally conducting land registrations through unauthorised home visits. During his tenure from March 2023 to May 2025, Nayak reportedly conducted 322 home visit-based land registrations, many of which are now under scrutiny by the Revenue Department.
The allegations claim that these registrations violated procedure and were often conducted without formal approval, raising concerns over potential misuse of authority and possible financial irregularities.
A notification from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, dated June 10, 2025, cited these irregularities as the basis for his immediate suspension under Rule 12 of OCS (CC&A) Rules, 1962. The official order mandates that Nayak remain headquartered at the Ganjam Collectorate during the suspension period and refrain from leaving the station without prior approval from the District Collector.
This action underscores the administration’s commitment to institutional transparency and accountability within the revenue system. The state government is expected to conduct a thorough inquiry, which could set a precedent for stricter oversight in registrar operations.
