On March 31, 2026, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, convicted Subash Chandra Das, Former Head Clerk of the Executive Engineer’s Office, R&B Division, Rourkela, in a bribery case filed by Odisha Vigilance.
Investigators charged Das under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. He demanded and accepted a bribe from a contractor to release security money related to construction work.
The court sentenced him to four years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000. Authorities confirmed that Das was taken into custody immediately to serve his sentence.
Odisha Vigilance announced that it will move the competent authority to stop his pension following the conviction. Officials emphasised that the verdict demonstrates the state’s commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability among public servants.
