Odisha Police declared success in its anti-Naxal mission as ADG Sanjeeb Panda confirmed that the state has effectively eliminated Maoist threats.
He said the mission was challenging but achieved its targets.
Speaking exclusively, Panda stated that Odisha no longer faces Maoist danger. He highlighted that security forces neutralised 27 Maoists, arrested nine, and facilitated the surrender of 78 in Odisha and 42 in Chhattisgarh. In total, 156 Maoists were either eliminated or surrendered during the operations.
Panda emphasised that Odisha once had nine Maoist-affected districts in 2025. Eight districts are now completely Mao-free, leaving only a handful of Maoists active. He added that the deadline for surrender has passed, and the remaining cadres will face encounter operations.
The ADG acknowledged the sacrifices made during the mission, noting that 239 personnel lost their lives in anti-Naxal operations. He said Odisha has become Mao-free because of their bravery.
Panda confirmed that Maoist recruitment has stopped in Odisha. He assured that the state will continue operations for the next two years to ensure the complete eradication of Maoist influence.
