Bhubaneswar: Merely a few hours after quitting the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), former Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra joined the BJP in Odisha.

The former BJD leader was officially inducted to the saffron party in the presence of Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi during a programme at the BJP party office in Bhubaneswar.

Earlier in the morning, he tendered his resignation letter to the BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. He cited ‘continuous neglect’ in the party as the reason behind his decision to desert the conch party.

Priyadarshi, the son-in-law of former Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani, had started his political career in his student days with late Biju Patnaik. He won his first Assembly elections on the BJD ticket from Bhubaneswar North.
