Puri: The former member of Puri Srimandir Managing Committee, Krushna Chandra Pratihari, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday morning over suspected past enmity.
According to sources, the incident took place near Barbati Jaga, a community hall, when two desperadoes opened fire at Pratihari and fled the spot.
Two bullets hit Pratihari on the head and he collapsed on the spot. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
“The actual motive behind the murder is being ascertained, and efforts are on to nab the assailants,” said Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh.
It may be mentioned here that the deceased, Krushna Chandra Pratihari, was the convenor of Suar Mahasura Nijog, a servitor’s body of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Also, Pratihari and four others were recently acquitted in the sensational murder of former BJD councillor & servitor Taluchha Bhagaban Mohapatra alias Guna Singhari in August 2012.
