Forest Official Dies In Attack By Ailing Jumbo

Dhenkanal: A forest department official was killed after being attacked by a jumbo near Gahamkhunti village under Dhenkanal Sadar Forest Range, succumbed late at night. 

The deceased has been identified as Biswaranjan Panigrahi. 

According to reports, the incident took place while Panigrahi was trying to tranquilize an elephant for treatment when he was attacked by the tusker. 

He had been admitted to the district headquarters hospital following the attack.  He was later shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital where he breathed his last during treatment. 

Worth mentioning that a tusker with an injured front right leg with blood oozing from it was seen moving in the Tikili Pokhari area near Gahamkhunti village for the last three days. The tusker was suspected to have been injured by a poacher’s bullet.
