A sudden fire erupted at Trilochan Netralaya in Beheramal, Jharsuguda, after a short circuit ignited lab equipment and furniture.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and controlled the flames quickly.
The blaze started in the laboratory during the morning hours. Flames spread across papers, chairs, tables, cables, and several medical instruments. Staff members alerted the fire department immediately. Firefighters arrived on time and extinguished the fire before it could reach patient areas.
No patients or visitors suffered injuries. Jharsuguda Fire Officer Arun Toppo confirmed that the fire destroyed multiple machines and essential materials inside the lab. He emphasised that the absence of fire safety measures worsened the situation. Authorities decided to issue a notice to the management of Trilochan Netralaya for failing to maintain proper safety standards.
The incident highlighted the urgent need for hospitals and clinics to strengthen fire safety systems. Electrical short circuits remain one of the most common causes of such accidents. Regular inspections, proper wiring, and fire alarms can prevent similar disasters. Trilochan Netralaya now faces scrutiny over its preparedness and responsibility toward patient safety.
