A village in Ganjam turned into a battleground during a Thakurani Jatra celebration when two groups clashed while watching a Mahabharat play.
The incident occurred late Wednesday night at Markandi village under Golonthara police limits.
Witnesses said two separate troupes were performing Mahabharat near the ODRP Colony. A heated argument broke out among youths from both groups, and the situation quickly escalated into stone pelting and stick attacks.
More than twenty people sustained injuries in the clash. Ten of them suffered serious wounds and were rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for treatment. The festive atmosphere turned chaotic as villagers fled the scene amid the violence.
Golonthara police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Officers launched an investigation to determine the cause of the dispute and identify those responsible for triggering the fight.
