In a strategic maneuver to revitalize its regional operations, the Indian National Congress has officially formed a new Political Affairs Committee for the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee.

As detailed in the official press release, the proposal was approved by the Congress President with immediate effect.

The announcement was formally communicated on September 4, 2026, by K.C. Venugopal, M.P. and General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). Taking charge of the newly formed panel is Lalji Desai, who has been appointed as the Chairperson.

The extensive committee features a core group of 29 members, bringing together some of the most recognizable faces and experienced strategists within the state’s party unit. Joining Chairperson Lalji Desai are prominent leaders such as Bhakta Charan Das, Dr. Giridhar Gamang, Niranjan Pattnaik, Narasingha Mishra, and Srikant Jena.

To ensure complete alignment across all functional wings of the party, the Political Affairs Committee also incorporates five Ex Officio members. This includes the AICC Secretaries attached to Odisha, the President of the Pradesh Mahila Congress, the State Seva Dal Chief, the President of the Pradesh Youth Congress, and the President of the NSUI.

This sweeping reconstitution signals a focused effort by the Congress high command to streamline decision-making and boost the party’s grassroots momentum in Odisha.
