Mayurbhanj: A two-year-old boy lost his life after being buried under rubble when a herd of elephants destroyed the house he was in at Saitapur village within the Betanati Range of Mayurbhanj district late on Friday night.
The child has been identified as Dibyaprakash, the son of Yudhistir Kisku and Rina Kisku.
As per reports, a group of seven elephants wandered into the village looking for food on Friday night. Two elephants targeted the residence of Yudhistir Kisku, inflicting considerable damage. Dibyaprakash, who was asleep alongside his grandmother Salega Kisku and his mother Rina, became trapped under the debris as the house’s wall gave way.
Despite rescue attempts, Dibyaprakash did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead by the medical staff at Betanati Hospital. The event has shocked both the family and the entire village.
Authorities have filed a case of unnatural death and are conducting further inquiries. The body of the young boy has been sent for an autopsy.
