The Odisha Government has officially rescheduled the Eid-ul-Zuha holiday from Wednesday, 27 May 2026, to Thursday, 28 May 2026.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued a notification on Monday, 25 May 2026, stating that the change has been made “with interest” following the expected visibility of the moon. All government offices and Magisterial Courts (Executive) across the state will now remain closed on 28 May, while 27 May will be a regular working day.
This partial modification comes in supersession of the earlier notification issued in November 2025. The move aligns Odisha’s holiday calendar with the actual sighting of the crescent moon, a practice followed by many states to ensure the festival is observed on the correct Islamic date.
