A trailer driver died after his vehicle caught fire following a head-on collision with another trailer in Sundargarh district late Wednesday night.

The accident occurred on the Bankibahal-Topria Road near the DBL office under the Hemgiri Police Station limits. Two heavy trailers crashed head-on, and one of them burst into flames instantly. The driver of the burning trailer got trapped inside the cabin and could not escape. He was charred to death on the spot.

Eyewitnesses reported that the cabin crushed inward during the impact, making rescue impossible as the fire spread rapidly. Even hours after the collision, the trailer continued to burn, drawing local residents and police to the scene.

Hemgiri police reached the site and began investigating the cause of the accident. Officials are verifying the identity of the deceased driver and details of the other vehicle involved.
