Rairakhol: A man brutally murdered his wife and mother-in-law at Podabalanda village over a family dispute and surrendered before the local police station at Rairakhol in Sambalpur district on Monday.
According to reports, the accused man, identified as Mithun Sahu (26) of Jamdali village within Athamallik police station in Angul, murdered his wife, Gayatri Sahu (22) and mother-in-law Rukuni Sahu (48) and surrendered before the police along with his 2-year-old son.
After learning about the double murder incident, SDPO Prashant Kumar Meher, and IIC Sabita Lata Sethi reached the scene and carried out an investigation.
Later, a scientific team from Sambalpur arrived and collected evidence. It is reported that the scientific team and the police are conducting further investigations in the presence of Manoj Kumar Meher, Rairakhol BDO.
According to sources, Gayatri Sahu, the daughter of Rukuni Sahu of Podablanda village under Rairakhol police station, was married to Mithun Sahu of Jamdili village under Athamallik police station of Angul district for the last 4 years. All went fine for the couple for about one and a half years, but gradually a family feud ensued between them. Relatives of the deceased claimed that Mithun used to beat his wife Gayatri, following which she has been living with her two-year-old son for the past 11 months at her father’s house in Podabalanda village.
