A devastating fire broke out in Chintaliguda village under the Naira Panchayat of Padmapur block in Rayagada district, reducing nine rooms belonging to four families to ashes and leaving them completely destitute.
According to reports, the victims—identified as Jalendra Sabar, Bharat Sabar, Ganga Sabar, and Trinath Sabar—were away working in their cotton fields when the fire suddenly erupted at their homes. Alert villagers immediately rushed to the spot and tried to douse the flames, but the intense blaze spread rapidly, consuming all nine rooms within minutes.
Upon receiving information, fire service personnel from Gudari and Gumuda rushed to the scene. Following hours of relentless efforts, the firefighting team managed to bring the blaze under control, but by then, everything inside the homes had been completely charred.
The fire destroyed household furniture, essential food grains like paddy and rice, crucial identity and land documents, and other valuable belongings. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. As the affected families have lost their entire livelihood and shelter, local villagers have strongly urged the administration to provide immediate government relief and rehabilitation.
