Senior leader Debashish Samantaray filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election in Odisha as the official candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Samantaray submitted his nomination before the Returning Officer at the Odisha Legislative Assembly in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and senior party leaders. His candidature marks a significant political development in the state, coming shortly after his resignation from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and subsequent entry into the BJP.
Party sources highlighted that Samantaray’s nomination reflects BJP’s strategy to strengthen its presence in Odisha’s upper house representation. The filing of papers was accompanied by a show of support from party workers and leaders.
