Cyclonic Circulation Over Westcentral BoB: IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert For These Odisha Dists

Bhubaneswar: As a cyclonic circulation lies over Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andhra Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here has issued thunderstorm alert for several districts of Odisha today.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, “The cyclonic circulation over Westcentral Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level persists.”

Under the influence, light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the rest districts of the state in the next 24 hours.

Besides, several districts will witness thunderstorm activity today.

“Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur,” said the IMD.
