Bhubaneswar Police achieved success under the Cyber Kabach campaign by arresting a cyber fraud agent while he attempted to convert cash at a petrol pump.

The accused, identified as Santosh Nayak from Khajurapali in Nayagarh district, was caught red-handed while trying to withdraw Rs 50,000 at the Nayapalli petrol pump.

Police sources confirmed that Santosh was part of a larger interstate cyber fraud racket. Investigators suspect multiple associates are involved and have begun tracing them. During the operation, police seized a vehicle bearing registration number OD 02 BY 5517, which was allegedly used in the fraud.

Officials revealed that cyber criminals had devised a plan to convert online fraud money into cash through petrol pumps. Acting on intelligence inputs, police intercepted Santosh and arrested him. He was later produced in court.

Santosh claimed innocence during interrogation, stating that he worked only as a driver of the seized vehicle. He alleged that the converted money belonged to his associate Abhishek, who instructed him to withdraw the cash. Despite his statement, the police relied on evidence and proceeded with his arrest.

Authorities emphasised that the Cyber Kabach campaign has intensified checks on mule accounts and fraudulent transactions. They assured that further investigation will expose the full network behind the racket.

This arrest marks another milestone for Odisha Police in tackling cybercrime and safeguarding citizens from financial fraud.
