Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a hamstring tendon injury, his club Al Nassr FC confirmed on Tuesday. However, the injury is not considered serious, and the star forward is expected to recover in time for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to club officials, Ronaldo is likely to be out of action for two to four weeks and has already started a rehabilitation programme.
Injury Occurred During Al Nassr’s Victory
The 41-year-old sustained the injury during Al Nassr’s 3–1 win against Al‑Fayha FC in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday.
Ronaldo appeared uncomfortable late in the match and signalled to the bench in the 81st minute, after which he was substituted by Abdullah Al‑Hamdan.
Earlier in the game, the Portuguese superstar also missed a penalty in the 12th minute, adding to a frustrating night before the injury forced him off the pitch.
Rehabilitation Underway
In an official update, the Saudi Pro League confirmed that Ronaldo has begun his recovery programme, and his progress will be monitored daily.
Despite the setback, medical staff believe the forward will fully recover before the World Cup begins on June 11, 2026.
Portugal Friendlies Likely to Be Missed
Due to the injury, Ronaldo is expected to miss Portugal’s upcoming international friendlies against Mexico national football team and the United States men’s national soccer team scheduled later this month.
However, the Portuguese captain is still expected to lead Portugal national football team at the World Cup later this year.
Ronaldo’s Strong Season Continues
Despite the injury setback, Ronaldo remains Al Nassr’s top scorer this season with 21 goals. The club is preparing for upcoming matches against Neom SC and Al‑Khaleej FC later in March.
Ronaldo Expands Into Football Ownership
Off the pitch, Ronaldo recently expanded his football interests by purchasing a stake in Spanish club UD Almería, which currently competes in La Liga 2.
In a statement announcing the investment, Ronaldo said it had been a long-time ambition for him to contribute to football beyond his playing career.
Club president Mohamed Al‑Khereiji welcomed the investment, saying Ronaldo’s experience and global influence would help the club grow both on the field and within its academy system.
