The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to launch its biggest public demonstration yet after Delhi Police granted permission for a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday.
The development came shortly after CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke arrived in India from the United States. He landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday morning and proceeded towards the protest venue.
The protest is aimed at demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over recent examination-related controversies, including the cancellation of NEET UG 2026 and concerns surrounding CBSE evaluation processes.
Delhi Police Grants Permission
According to updates shared by the organization, Delhi Police approved the protest from 10 am to 5 pm at Jantar Mantar.
Following the approval, CJP changed its earlier plan and asked supporters to gather directly at Jantar Mantar instead of assembling near the Parliament Street Police Station.
In a social media message, the group said:
“Permission granted by police. Cockroaches gather at Jantar Mantar.”
Dipke Arrives in Delhi
Abhijeet Dipke was seen leaving the airport holding a copy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s autobiography. Visuals from the airport showed him interacting with supporters before departing for the protest site.
The group had earlier claimed that Dipke was briefly surrounded by police officials after immigration clearance. However, senior police officers denied reports that he had been detained.
Protest to Focus on Education Issues
The CJP has repeatedly stated that its movement is focused on accountability in the education system.
The organization argues that repeated examination controversies have affected millions of students and families across India.
Ahead of the demonstration, the group asked participants to carry:
- The Indian Tricolour
- A book symbolising education
- Drinking water and sun protection
- Flowers to offer respectfully to police personnel
The organizers also urged supporters to maintain peace and avoid confrontation.
Growing Support for the Movement
What began as a satirical online campaign has rapidly evolved into a nationwide youth movement.
The Cockroach Janta Party emerged after remarks made by Chief Justice Surya Kant comparing certain fake degree holders and unemployed activists to “cockroaches.” The comment triggered widespread online discussions and eventually inspired the formation of the movement.
Several public figures, including social activist Sonam Wangchuk and actor Prakash Raj, have expressed support for the campaign’s focus on educational accountability.
Security Tightened Across Delhi
Authorities have increased security arrangements in parts of the national capital ahead of the protest.
Additional police deployment has been reported near key government locations and residences of senior political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Officials said the measures were precautionary and intended to ensure law and order during the demonstration.
What Happens Next?
The June 6 protest marks the first major on-ground mobilisation by the Cockroach Janta Party.
With thousands expected to gather at Jantar Mantar, the event is likely to become a significant test of the movement’s ability to convert its massive online following into real-world political influence.
As protesters assemble in the capital, all eyes will be on whether the demonstration intensifies pressure on the government over education reforms and examination transparency.
