Odisha Vigilance on Saturday launched simultaneous searches at nine locations associated with Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), ITDA Baliguda in Kandhamal district, over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.
The coordinated operation is being carried out on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Multi-District Vigilance Operation Underway
The extensive search operation is being led by two Additional Superintendents of Police, five Deputy Superintendents of Police, six Inspectors and supporting Vigilance personnel.
Searches are being conducted across Bhubaneswar, Baliguda, Dharmasala in Jajpur district and Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.
Properties Under Vigilance Scanner
According to Vigilance sources, the following properties linked to Baikuntha Nath Behera are being searched:
- A four-storey residential building at Niladri Vihar, Chandrasekharpur.
- A three-storey building at Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
- A double-storey house at Kanan Vihar Phase-I, Patia.
- Another double-storey building located in Chandrasekharpur HIG area.
- A double-storey building constructed on ancestral land at Pandua near Dharmasala College.
- Residence of a relative situated in Deula Sahi area of Baripada town.
- Another relative’s residence located at Pandua in Jajpur district.
- Office chamber of Baikuntha Nath Behera at the office of the Special Officer, ITDA Baliguda.
- Official government residence of the AEE at Baliguda.
Disproportionate Assets Allegation
The Vigilance inquiry focuses on allegations that the government engineer accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Investigators are examining property documents, financial records, bank-related information and other relevant materials during the ongoing searches.
