CM Naveen Increases Folk Artistes’ Remuneration

Bhubaneswar: To encourage the folk artistes engaged in various awareness programmes, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a significant increase in their remuneration for performing in government programmes organized by Information and Public Relations Department.

The Chief Minister ordered to increase the remuneration for various folk arts such as Dasakathia, Pala, Ghoda Nacha, folk dance and folk music. The Information and Public Relations department conducts various programmes through folk art for the successful implementation of various schemes of the government.

As per the revised decision, increased remuneration has been announced for each folk artist to perform three shows in three hours a day. The party leader will be paid Rs 1000 per day and other members will be paid Rs 800 per day. In addition, the government will spend Rs 300 per for their transportation and food.

In Dasakathia programme, two-person team will be paid Rs. 2400 against the earlier payment of Rs 2000.

In the field of Pala performance, the program was paid Rs. 350 earlier. As per the new decision a team of six people will be paid Rs 6,800 at a time.

The government used to pay Rs 350 for ghoda Nacha show. Now, the eight-member team will be paid Rs 9,000.

Similarly, artistes in folk dance and folk music will get Rs 9,000 as per the revised order. They used to get Rs 400 per programme earlier.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that this initiative will be very helpful in protecting folk art and promoting artistes.
