CM Majhi Reviews Rath Yatra Preparations in Puri

High-Level Meeting Emphasizes Crowd Management, Health, and Multi-Layered Security Systems

Ahead of the grand Rath Yatra festival, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted a high-level meeting in Puri to meticulously review all preparations.


The session, held at the municipal council hall, focused on ensuring a seamless and secure experience for devotees and visitors.

Comprehensive discussions were held on sanitation, health services, transportation, crowd regulation, and ensuring disciplined darshan for pilgrims.

Key Security and Service Measures Announced:

  • Deployment of 275 AI-based surveillance cameras across Puri
  • Five-tier security structure with 10,000 personnel on duty
  • Activation of Quick Response Teams and drones for crowd monitoring
  • Coast Guard presence along the beach zones
  • Medical support, including 69 primary health centres, 64 ambulances, 265 extra beds, and 378 doctors and paramedics
  • Specialist support from AIIMS doctors for emergency care

With these robust measures, authorities aim to ensure the Rath Yatra is conducted with utmost safety and spiritual sanctity. The CM emphasised coordination among departments to uphold Odisha’s global reputation for hosting one of the largest religious processions in the world.

The review meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister
Parvati Parida, Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs and Odia Language, Literature and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Puri MP Sambit Patra, Rajya Sabha MP Subhasish Khuntia, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Chief Administrator of the temple, senior officers of various departments, district administration officers, servicemen and matadhis.

After the review meeting, the Chief Minister went to the Gundicha Temple and visited the improvement and beautification work done there.

Odisha Vigilance today arrested Debadyuti Nanda, former Junior Assistant of the office of the Block Education Officer (BEO), Baliapal, for allegedly misappropriating government funds worth Rs 37.32 lakh. Nanda, currently posted as Junior Assistant at Padmalochan Government High School, Jagai, Baliapal, was taken into custody for preparing forged arrear pay bills between 2022 and 2026. According to Vigilance sources, Nanda fraudulently inserted his own forged arrear bills into the arrear DA bills of other employees under the BEO office, taking advantage of his position as bill clerk‑cum‑accountant. The manipulation allowed him to divert government money into his own account. A case has been registered at Baleshwar Vigilance PS Case No. 13/2026 under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and Sections 467, 468, 471, 477‑A of the IPC. The accused is being forwarded to court today. Officials said the arrest underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued drive against financial irregularities in government offices and its focus on digital transparency and accountability.
