Chennai Super Kings produced a calm and authoritative chase at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets.
The victory was anchored by Sanju Samson’s standout innings, marked by discipline, clarity, and composure.
Delhi, batting first, faltered after a promising start. From 29 for 1 in the fourth over, they slipped to 69 for 5 by the eleventh, losing momentum in the middle overs.
Abishek Porel’s 30 off 33 provided brief resistance, while Tristan Stubbs (38) and Sameer Rizvi (40*) added late runs. Yet, the Capitals managed only 155 for 7, a below-par total on a surface that eased under lights. Chennai’s bowlers were precise, with Akeal Hosein (1/19) and Noor Ahmad (2/22) ensuring Delhi scored at just 7.75 per over.
The chase revolved entirely around Samson. After Ruturaj Gaikwad’s early dismissal, he took charge, pacing the innings superbly to finish unbeaten on 87 from 52 balls, striking six sixes and seven fours.
Kartik Sharma composed 41* from 31 balls, complementing Samson in an unbroken 114-run stand. Chennai closed at 159 for 2 in 17.3 overs, sealing the win with composure and authority.
