Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Balotra district, calling it a milestone for India’s energy and petrochemical sector.

Modi dedicated the project to the nation after touring the refinery and pressing a remote button to mark its launch.

The refinery-cum-petrochemical complex is set to transform western Rajasthan’s economy and emerge as one of India’s largest integrated facilities. The project will strengthen domestic refining capacity, reduce import dependence, and create thousands of jobs across the region.

Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects covering urban transport, railways, roads, renewable energy, and power transmission. Among the major initiatives, he laid the foundation stone for Phase 2 of the Jaipur Metro Rail Project, involving an investment of over ₹13,000 crore.

Governor Haribhau Bagade, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma attended the ceremony. Officials said the refinery project aligns with India’s vision of energy self-reliance and sustainable industrial growth.

The complex integrates refining and petrochemical production, enabling efficient resource utilisation and supporting India’s transition toward cleaner fuels. Modi emphasised that the project will accelerate industrial development and empower local communities through employment and infrastructure expansion.
