Floods triggered by incessant rainfall have impacted more than 13.5 lakh people across 10 districts of Odisha since August 13, even as the overall situation remains under control.
Authorities are keeping Kendrapada, Bhadrak, and Jajpur under close watch due to rising river levels and breaches.
According to the Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC) latest report, 91 blocks, 604 Gram Panchayats, and 1,895 villages have been affected. Relief operations are underway with 57 teams deployed, including ODRAF, NDRF, Fire Services, and Police units.
So far, 41,761 people have been rescued and 76,051 evacuated by boats. Connectivity has been restored to 775 villages, while 210 boats remain in service. Relief shelters are equipped with food, water, sanitation, and medical facilities, with special arrangements for children, pregnant women, and senior citizens.
Crop damage has been extensive, with over 1 lakh hectares of paddy affected, alongside livestock and poultry losses. Veterinary teams have treated more than 25,000 animals and supplied 1,587 MT of cattle feed.
Medical teams have treated 33,653 people, including cases of diarrhoea and snakebite. Power supply restoration is ongoing for 73,495 affected consumers.
SRC Rajesh Prabhakar Patil assured that there is no shortage of rescue forces, food, water, medicines, or relief materials, and urged people to follow safety guidelines.
