Under the dazzling lights of the Narendra Modi Stadium, India scripted a golden chapter in cricketing history by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs to lift their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy.

In doing so, India became the first team ever to defend the T20 World Cup title and the first to win it on home soil, sending a packed stadium into raptures.

Asked to bat first, India unleashed a batting spectacle that will be remembered for generations. Sanju Samson continued his dream run with a blistering 89 off 46 balls, peppered with 5 fours and 8 sixes. Abhishek Sharma set the tone early, smashing the fastest fifty of the tournament en route to 52 off 21 balls. Ishan Kishan added a fluent 54 off 25, while late fireworks from Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube propelled India to 255/5 — the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final and the first time a team crossed 200 in the showpiece clash.

New Zealand’s chase faltered under relentless Indian pressure. Despite spirited knocks from Tim Seifert (52 off 26) and skipper Mitchell Santner (43), the visitors were bundled out for 159 in 19 overs. India’s bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah’s sensational 4/15 and Axar Patel’s 3/27, dismantled New Zealand’s hopes of a comeback.

The victory was more than just a win — it was a statement of dominance, precision, and belief. In front of the world’s largest cricket stadium, India stood tall as champions once again, etching their name in folklore.

Champions again. History made at home. Title number three for India.
