The Nepal Tourism Board has confirmed that 178 Indian nationals are among 644 people reported missing after devastating flash floods struck the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha districts.

A preliminary record compiled from trekking and travel companies identified 644 travellers, including 127 Nepalis, whose whereabouts remain unknown. The figures are being verified in coordination with local authorities, guides and security agencies.

Officials said riverside areas in the four districts have suffered severe damage, while other regions remain unaffected. Citizens from multiple countries are missing, including 53 from Ukraine, 35 from Australia and 25 from Canada.

Nepal Police reported that 175 bodies have been recovered so far, while hundreds remain untraced. Rescue teams, supported by helicopters and ground forces, are providing medical aid, food, water and temporary shelters.

India has stepped up humanitarian assistance, with the Ministry of External Affairs confirming that a second flight carrying 37.5 tonnes of relief material, medicines and food packets has departed for Nepal. The Embassy of India in Kathmandu has also set up helplines: +977 9851316807, +977 9709107500, and +977 9810326117, available on WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, Indian agencies including the NDRF and Central Water Commission are closely monitoring water discharge levels across border districts such as Kushinagar and West Champaran. Officials said no adverse flood impact has been reported in Indian territories.
