Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal addressed a press conference in Bhubaneswar on Monday to mark the completion of 12 years of the central government.
Both leaders highlighted the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the impact of double-engine governance on Odisha’s development.
Majhi said Modi’s determined leadership has given India a new direction. He noted that despite global instability, India created new opportunities and gained recognition by supplying vaccines worldwide during the pandemic. He emphasised that goals set for 2030 were achieved by 2025, reflecting the pace of progress. Majhi also pointed out that June 9 holds historic significance as Modi completes 4,399 days in office, setting a national record.
The Chief Minister outlined Odisha’s growth under central support, citing record allocations in railways, highways, ports, and energy projects. He mentioned the approval of Puri International Airport, the modernisation of 59 railway stations under Amrit Bharat, and major port and shipbuilding projects in Bahuda and Kendrapara. He added that schemes like PM Kisan, PM Matsya Sampada, PM Surya Ghar, and PM Matru Vandana have benefitted millions of farmers, fishermen, women, and MSMEs in Odisha.
Meghwal said Modi’s governance transformed schemes like PM Awas Yojana and Swachh Bharat, delivering housing, sanitation, and electricity at unprecedented speed and scale. He noted that over four crore houses have been built, ten crore toilets constructed, and 18,000 villages electrified within 1,000 days. He added that DBT saved Rs 4.31 lakh crore by eliminating leakages.
Both leaders stressed that India is on track to become a developed nation by 2047, with Odisha emerging as a key beneficiary of central initiatives.
