Food Safety officials seized and destroyed 100 kg of loose paneer (chenna) in Bhubaneswar’s Unit‑4 area after it failed preliminary adulteration tests.
Officials confirmed that 12 paneer samples from local outlets were found suspicious during spot testing and have been sent for further examination. The raids are part of intensified enforcement drives across the twin cities of Kataka and Bhubaneswar, following directions from Food Safety Commissioner Poma Tudu ahead of Raksha Bandhan and upcoming festivities.
A six‑member enforcement team is currently inspecting restaurants at The World Mall, while similar checks continue across the city.
In the past two days alone, enforcement teams have seized 71 quintals of suspected adulterated paneer worth Rs 17.75 lakh and 66 kg of stale food from various outlets. In Kataka, raids led by Health Officer Dr Nupendra Satpathy uncovered large stocks of paneer being supplied through autos from the Nilai area.
Officials said the drive will continue across urban and semi‑urban areas to ensure food quality and public safety during the festive season.
