In a significant step towards inclusive urban development, the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) successfully organised the first village-level stakeholder meeting for the proposed Town Planning Scheme–1 at the Barang Block Office on Saturday.

The event drew enthusiastic participation from landowners in Ratagarh-Lenkasahi and Chandiprasad villages, highlighting community involvement in shaping the region’s future.

The meeting was presided over by CDA Vice-Chairman, Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, IAS, with key officials, including Secretary Dr Sweta Kumar Dash, Assistant Town Planner and Nodal Officer Bishnu Prasad Sahoo, and Administrative Officer Janak Kumar Nayak in attendance. The primary focus was on critical aspects, including land management, planning proposals, development provisions, and the allotment policy under the scheme.

During the session, the Nodal Officer detailed the scheme’s key highlights, which include enhanced infrastructure, better road connectivity, provision of essential public amenities, and promotion of orderly urban expansion. Landowners were invited to voice their opinions, suggestions, and any concerns, fostering an open dialogue.

In her address, Vice-Chairman Sahota underscored the CDA’s dedication to transparent and participatory governance. “Public participation is at the heart of our town planning initiatives,” she said, assuring attendees that their inputs would be integral to the scheme’s design and implementation.

The gathering wrapped up with a lively question-and-answer segment, demonstrating high levels of interest and collaboration from the public. CDA officials reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing stakeholder engagement at every phase, aiming for sustainable and resident-focused urban development in the area.

This initiative marks a promising start for Town Planning Scheme–1, which is expected to transform the villages into well-planned urban spaces while addressing local needs.
